But mine are, and I can't explain that.
Except, I can.
God knew I needed them.
I needed His voice to remind me of something this week.
So, I was busy feeling really overwhelmed. This is a crazy busy season for family life right now, and I've got a deadline to meet. I need words, and they do not come on demand. My deadline is in March (spoiler alert: more to come on that later).
While I was basically telling God I wasn't sure how I was going to get this done, I looked up and noticed that the hose was in the pool. The water looked really high, so I assumed Pete was filling it and forget when he left for work. I ran outside to pull the hose out, but it wasn't even on. Hands on my hips, I laughed and turned to go back in the house. That's when I saw them. Two beautiful day lilies in full bloom. Now, you may not know a lot about flowers, so I will just tell you, day lilies are done in August. Absolutely done. I heard God say,
"Lauren, things grow when I say they grow. I am in charge of time and seasons.
Stop worrying."
God could have gotten my attention or reassured me in a lot of ways, but if you know me, you know flowers are one of my joys. I love those day lilies. This was personal. That's how He is. He is extremely personal. He also knows how much I hate winter. It was 37 degrees this morning, and those day lilies are defiantly still blooming. There are at least 10 more blooms coming and they have been blooming all week. I'll be out there like a crazy woman tonight when it goes down to 29 trying to protect them from the frost with blankets.
"And we [have seen and] know [by personal experience] that the Son of God has [actually] come [to this world], and has given us understanding and insight so that we may [progressively and personally] know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life." 1 John 5:20 AMP (underlining mine)
He wants to give us understanding, He wants us to know Him not just about Him.
God knows you, He wants you to see Him. He desires to reveal Himself to you progressively and personally He wants to bring you grace and truth.
Do you believe this? Are you looking? Are you listening? Or are you giving Satan more space in your heart and mind and
believing the things that he is constantly shouting?
I dare you to ask God...tell him you want to know Him personally. Then expectantly wait because He will not be silent, but don't you stop listening. Wait well, listen intently, push Satan's voice out.
I'd love to pray for you, if you would trust me with that privilege.
I will be defiantly listening over here for God's voice in the middle of the cold.
