What Are You Writing?

What are you writing on your heart? What do you repeat to yourself until it's engraved there? Is it guilt or shame?

That's what I tend to write on mine. I engrave it with well worn repeated lines that I speak to myself.

God tells us that instead we should bind steadfast love and faithfulness around our necks and write them on the tablet of our hearts. Not my own steadfast love or faithfulness, but His. My love and faithfulness will never be enough, which is why I often end up feeling like I am not enough... because I'm not, but He is.

Proverbs 3 promises that if we take God's love and faithfulness with us today it will be enough and we will earn favor with both God and man.

"Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So that you will find favor and good success with both God and man." Proverbs 3:4&5

Let's choose better things to write on the tablet of our hearts. Let's remind ourselves that we don't have to be enough. God has an endless supply of faithfulness and love at our disposal. He is faithful to forgive. He is full of steadfast love. Put that on repeat until it's a well worn rhythm of your heart.

How do you repeat this message to yourself? Ask God to help you identify when you are repeating something that doesn't line up with your redeemed identity. Feed yourself a steady diet of the Truth, mainly in what you read and are listening to. What music do you allow to sweep your heart and emotions away? That's a great place to start.

Take a minute this weekend to physically write this verse somewhere that you will see it on repeat. Then repeat it to yourself. Practice makes permanent.
