Wrinkles

me laughing at wrinkles

I feel like time is breathing down my neck and etching "I was here", on my face. I need rapid wrinkle repair. Okay that sentence is fun to say out loud because of alliteration, but I am serious people. I am feeling like I need to do something about this. Ya'll I don't even where adult make up, and if you know me, you know how I feel about sunscreen. This has been my strategy: I will use a new cream that Instagram recommends ( because clearly they are who I should look to for skincare advice), or shave my face, or take collagen... like three times, and I look the same. Did you catch the main problem in that last sentence. I am only consistent...like three times.

I would be less wrinkled if I just picked one. If I just picked one and focused on doing it every day. I don't have to do all the things at once, I just need to pick one and focus on it. For an actual change to occur, I need consistency and time. Consistency actually beats time. It's sneaky because it only takes a little consistency to change things.

This describes a lot of us in our pursuit of God. Our Bible reading and prayer are inconsistent at best. "I'll read this book, do this study, listen to this podcast",...but it doesn't stick. We prayed like three times last week, we haven't seen results yet and we are surprised.

If I want my skin to be different by next year... I have to be consistent daily.

If I want my heart to be different by next year... I have to be consistent daily.

There really isn't a faster or easier way.

Real change happens in little increments over a period of time. Nothing actually happens overnight, even though we are a society that is addicted to this idea.

So, instead of being discouraged, start now. Work at consistency. You may not make it 100% of the time, you may not start out praying three times a day, but start anyway.

"Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin..." Zechariah 4:10 NLT

This verse refers to the rebuilding of the temple the second time. They had to start over.

Do you need to start over too? God loves second, third, and even fourth attempts. He loves when our heart turns to Him in obedience.

Just start...consistency will come.

As for rapid wrinkle repair, I think I'm going to just start a new strategy

and call them wisdom marks.
