Feeling the Pressure?

They are here!
They are here!

If we are honest, we all feel pressure to pray more, but that is looking at prayer the wrong

way. It isn’t something to add to our lists in our attempts to multitask through our days. Prayer actually simplifies and directs our lists.

You may feel as if you don’t have the time, but you do. Spending time in prayer refines the  time you spend on other things. You will find that you are less distracted and less easily led to  worry.

After time with God, things become clearer, and less time is wasted not knowing what to  do. The last verse of the book of Job states that Job died “full of days” (42:17). I think this verse  illustrates a truth that the number of days is less important than the fullness of them. To have  full days, we have to give the emptiness of our time to God first and let Him fill them. God fills with purpose; we usually fill randomly with our desires. We want to accumulate quantity, while God desires quality.

We were made to run on God. He is our joy. We will find nothing and no one that fills us as He does. Time with God simply helps us run better.

Have you felt like you wanted to pray more, but don't know where to really start? Have you started and not been able to maintain the habit?

These are reasons that I wrote this book. I don't know all the answers, and I know that I have so much more to learn about prayer, but I have developed a pattern of prayer in my life. I talk to God out of habit, and the more that I have practiced this pattern the more I've gotten to know and feel God's presence. His presence and guidance are available, but we have to focus on Him to find Him. There is always more of God available for us, but we have to learn how to access the eternal while still stuck in the temporal.

If you echo any of these thoughts, I hope you'll check out my new study. It leads you to a pattern of prayer in the morning and evening. I need to open and close my day with God. I need His direction in the morning, and I need reminders of His grace and love as I close my day when thoughts of mistakes and misteps feel overwhelming.

Conversation creates relationship. Why not work on the most important relationship you can ever have with the God who created you?

God is available.

Are you?
