The Light Shines in the Darkness, and the Darkness Has Not Overcome It.

Whether you believe in spiritual forces of evil or not doesn’t stop them. The Bible is very clear that they are working against us, they are not passive but working. Why do so many of us remain passive against them? Ephesians chapter 6 calls us to wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil.

There are a lot of evils going on around us under the cover of darkness. God is not surprised by any of it. I am feeling the Holy Spirit in me saying it’s time to fight, but hear me when I say with Paul, our fight is not against flesh and blood. That is the distraction Satan wants us to be occupied entirely with so that we don’t do what impacts the spiritual world: pray. He wants us so focused on the overwhelming information that we are paralyzed by it.

You may love or hate Trump. You may love or hate our governor. You may agree or disagree with your church leaders or the Board of Education. It doesn’t matter. I repeat. It doesn’t matter. God placed them in the position they are in, and He will use them for His purposes. It is our job to pray for them. I feel I can safely say most of us criticize more than we pray.

“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities,

for there is no authority except that which God has established.

The authorities that exist have been established by God.” Romans 13:1 NIV

That verse is more than clear and repetitive.

There is no authority that has not been placed by God.

Do you want things to change?

They won’t unless God moves.

Do you know what moves God?

Seeking God. When we chase after God like He has the answers, then and only then does He give them. Otherwise we humans would take credit for them. We have to seek, ask and knock according to Matthew 7:7, and we keep at it. Prayer is not a one-time wish tossed heavenward. It's a consistent storming of the gates of heaven.

Pray. Pray for God to move. I have been praying since March every day at noon. EVERY DAY.

I am still waiting on God, but I know He is working. I believe that He hears me, and He is storing our prayers to be poured out in power. I’m renewing my resolve to pray from my knees. This posture reminds me to whom I am speaking and fills my heart with renewed awe that he hears me.

“God’s Word is an indispensable weapon.

In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare.

Pray hard and long.

Pray for your brothers and sisters.

Keep your eyes open.

Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.”

Ephesians 6:17&18 MSG

God's word is both indispensable and a weapon. It is a precise tool to use when you feel out of control and powerless. We are living in a time when we need to keep our eyes open, which includes being aware of what is happening and balancing it with the fact that God is still on His throne, and He’s not getting down. He is the Light and there is no darkness in Him.

Who doesn’t feel like dropping out right now? Who doesn’t feel they have fallen behind?

I promise the way to regain power over your life is prayer. Through prayer we activate all the weapons in the spiritual arsenal that God has given us in Ephesians 6. Prayer itself invites us to action and gives us a direction.

If you don’t see that everything going on right now is Spiritual, ask God to open your eyes.

I don’t pretend to know all the details of everything happening, but I know enough to pray like everything depends on it…because it does.

“Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words.

Learn how to apply them.”

Ephesians 6:15 MSG

Praying the Truth of God's word over our lives activates it to bring righteousness, prayer itself ushers in peace in exchange for fear, our faith is exercised and made strong as we wait, and salvation is our promise. Learn how to apply them.

It's time to pick up your sword and hit your knees.
