Sacrifice of Time

Today is the beginning of Lent, which means Easter is right around the bend. Easter is my favorite holiday hands-down! I have a challenge for you this year and it doesn't have to do with eggs.

Instead of traditionally giving something up for lent, consider adding something in. Add time with God. Instead of wasting time in the million ways that we all have of letting it slip away, invest your time in prayer. Give your time to God in prayer and put things more in God's hands than yours.

If you give the sacrifice of time I promise God will multiply it. Give him even 15 minutes every day of the next 40 days and see what happens.

I already spend time in prayer each morning so I'm committing to time with God each evening. I'm taking this verse literally:

Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice! Psalm 141:2

Try writing your prayers down. The human brain cannot be distracted if it has to put all of your thoughts on paper. While your pen is moving, you can't think about something else and continue writing. Writing my prayers is the way that I have learned to pray. It might sound silly, but I promise it has influenced my prayer life more than anything else. Writing prayers has taught me to pray.

The Lenten season is supposed to bring us closer to God; this a great way to do that. God knows that time is one of our greatest resources and blesses the sacrifice.

Love this idea of adding something in by spending more time with God!
