When I feel overwhelmed… I need worship.
When I feel angry, that's when I need worship.
When I feel tired, that's when I need worship.
When I feel empty, that’s when I need worship.
When I feel fearful, that’s when I need worship.
When I feel devastated, that's when I need worship.
Pouring out worship opens my soul so that God can refill it with the right things.
I can’t pour out with abandon without splashing some on me. My worship of God affects me. It changes me.
Trust in him at all times,
O people; pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us.
Selah
Psalm 62:8
We wrongly think of worship as only being thanks. It’s actually praising God for who He is. That is the refuge part of that verse. Worship doesn’t just bless God it also affirms to our hearts that God is the answer. He is our rock; He is our strength, He is what we need... always.
Not only that, but when we worship out loud, it affirms that we trust God. We are choosing Him. We are choosing to ,"Trust Him at all times."
Pouring out our hearts to Him is a show of our reliance on Him, declaring our dependence on Him. That shuts the mouth of the enemy faster than anything else.
There’s a song of praise that only I can bring to God. I contribute to the harmony of creation when I sing my song. Why do you need to worship?
When I feel ______________, that's when I need to worship.
Father, thank you that you designed worship to fill me. Thank you that I have a part to play in the symphony of creation. I can worship you with my song; I can worship you with my life; I can worship you with my minutes. Thank you that of all the places You can be, you choose me. You are a refuge for my heart when I am tired, overwhelmed, angry, devastated, fearful, empty. You are always what I need.
