Bring on the Rain

It's dark today. The rain is coming down in sheets. Rainy days in summer remind my heart that I need what I don't want.

Planting seeds inevitably changes my feelings about rain. When I have fresh seeds, I know it's going to take rainy days to produce fruit. I embrace it. Transferring this same truth into my life hasn't been as successful.

The rain today reminds my heart to pray for growth, unfortunately it often takes a good deluge to grow.

I want to teach my heart to dance in the rain because I know what it means, because I know what it brings.

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

‭‭ James‬ ‭1‬:‭2‬-‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I don't want my faith to be found lacking when Jesus comes back for me, so I say, bring on the rain. (Insert Jo Dee Messina's voice here). Cause tomorrows another day...and I'm thirsty anyway...

Don't get frustrated as you wait for those first fruits, keep your eyes expectant for blooms and soak in the rain with joy and let it plant faith in your heart.
