If It's For Me

Ive been listening to this song on repeat. It's from the motion picture Bonhoeffer.

The bridge keeps playing in my mind.

"If it's for me to die for love...then I will."

I've been singing it over and over in my mind and asking it over and over in my heart. I can't hear it without tears springing to my eyes.

I've been asking God for boldness and courage, and as I keep listening I feel a shift.

I believe that if I have to choose to die for Jesus, I will, but there are ways every day that I can choose to die to myself for love. Every day.

I can die to getting my own way.

I can die to having to be right.

I can die to anger and bitterness.

I can die to my selfish use of time.

I can die to my image.

I can die to fear.

I can die to pride.

I can die to comfort.

I can die to control.

I can die to...

What are you hearing in your head? What is God asking you if you will die to today?

There is a chance that I will die for my faith, but just as importantly, how am I living for it

right now? How can I daily die to myself so that Jesus can live more through me?

I actually want to say that I would like to increase my chances to die for my faith.

I want to be louder and bolder.

I want to remember daily that Jesus gives me chances to die to my self for Him every day.

I want to accept every chance.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith,

let us strip off every weight that slows us down,

especially the sin that so easily trips us up.

And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

Hebrews 12:1 NLT

They are watching...all the saints that have gone ahead of us, our children, and people we would never guess, they are all watching.

If it's for me to die....then I will.

"As it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed,

but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body,

whether by life of by death.

For to me to live is Christ , and to die is gain."
